Katie Stapleton, LSW
Therapist
I believe healing happens through genuine connection with ourselves and within our relationships. Life can feel overwhelming at times and you don’t have to navigate it alone. Therapy offers a space where you can slow down, feel heard without judgment, and begin making sense of experiences that may have felt too heavy to carry on your own.
About Katie
Katie specializes in supporting adolescents and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, challenges with food and body image, and the lasting effects of trauma or harmful experiences. She believes that growth and healing occur when individuals feel genuinely heard, supported, and accepted. She works alongside clients to deepen their understanding of themselves, their relationships, and the challenges they face while helping them develop effective coping strategies and build upon their existing strengths. Her therapeutic style is warm, holistic, and trauma-informed, prioritizing a safe, compassionate environment where clients can explore their experiences at their own pace, without being pushed to revisit difficult moments before they’re ready.
Katie’s clinical approach is person-centered and considers each client’s whole self, including their past experiences and the different systems that may be impacting their mental health and overall wellness in the present. She believes healing involves attuning to both the mind and the body, since stressful or traumatic experiences can shape not only how we think, but also how we feel and respond physically. She works collaboratively with clients to explore practical, everyday ways to reconnect with themselves through both insight and body awareness, helping them build tools that feel sustainable and meaningful outside of sessions. Katie earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University, and brings experience working with neurodivergent individuals, adolescents and children in school and outpatient settings, clients in eating disorder treatment, adults in partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs for trauma treatment and mood disorder management, and patients in a Level I trauma hospital.
Katie views therapy as a collaborative process, one where clients are the expert on their own lives and she walks alongside them with curiosity, empathy, and evidence-based support. She is dedicated to helping clients feel safe enough to explore, empowered to grow, and supported in creating lasting change as they work toward the life they want to create.
