Anna Sossenheimer, LSW

Therapist

Therapy is a deeply vulnerable and brave process; it is a place we come to better understand our own patterns and cultivate a way of being that moves us closer to our goals and values. I work with folks who struggle regulating their emotions or behaviors, often due to anxiety, depression, trauma, neurodivergence, or other life stressors; my job is to help you uncover what’s keeping you stuck and give you practical tools to be with the challenging parts of life, so you can create a life of meaning no matter your circumstance. Therapy is not always about feeling better right away– it is about getting better at feeling!

Therapy is also not one-size-fits all, and my approach is to meet the human in front of me, always informed by evidence-based practices. I am intensively trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and the common thread in my work is a focus on the emotion system and a balance between accepting life as it is with changing what we can– all held in kindness, warmth, and usually a little humor along the way.

Anna Sossenheimer

About Anna

Anna is a Licensed Social Worker with experience working across levels of care, supporting adolescents and adults navigating anxiety, perfectionsim, suicidal and self-injurious behaviors, eating disorders, trauma, mood disorders, identity exploration, and life transitions. She completed intensive training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) under DBT-Linehan Board Certified supervision and is informed by other evidence-based behavioral therapies, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). She also brings a somatic and mindfulness-based lens to her work; as a registered yoga teacher (RYT-200), she integrates body awareness and nervous system regulation into the therapeutic process.

Anna’s approach is trauma-informed, holistic, and identity-affirming. Guided by anti-oppressive values, she strives to create a collaborative therapeutic space where clients feel safe, seen, and empowered. Anna supports clients in building practical skills to live in alignment with their values; whether you are a highly-sensitive person struggling to weather intense emotional storms; a burnt-out overachiever navigating perfectionism and chronic stress; a young adult facing the challenges of growing up; or just a human in need of a listening ear; Anna will help you define the life you want and overcome the obstacles to it. Clients have described her style as warm, real, and sometimes a little silly!

Outside of her clinical work, Anna enjoys creative projects, long walks by the water, and spending time with her cats.
